Digi key battery holder8/6/2023 ![]() ![]() Easy to inspect for defects after soldering. Gull wing leads: Enable the most pins per inch when compared to J-lead types but they are more fragile. There are three basic types of pins (leads) for surface mount devices. Typically, they are smaller than the through-hole components. May not use or even have all the pins/pads for example 24-SMD module, 14 leads: would fit in the space of a 24-SMD module but only has 14 pins/pads. ![]() Number in front of SMD indicates how many pins/pads, for example a 6-SMD module has 6 pins/pads. Have pins or pads that connect to solder pads on the PCB that are then soldered in place forming an electrical and mechanical connection. Screws or bolts go through wings (flanges) that protrude from the product.Ī mount that incorporates a connector into its method of attachment into the electrical system. Has a stud bolt incorporated into one side for attachment. Mounting Type: How the device is attached.ĭesigned to be mounted to a metal chassis.Īttaches to a metal chassis but it includes an 8" wire for connection.ĭesigned to be mounted to a metal Chassis using an incorporated stud bolt. Primarily applicable to coin cells and less-common cylindrical cells. ![]() Number of Cells: The number of individual batteries the device is designed to interface withīattery Series: Indicates size(s) and number(s) of cells a holder can accommodate. Style: The physical form and style of the device.īattery Cell Size: The battery cell size the device is designed to interface with. Battery holders for coin cell, cylindrical or rectangular batteries are used to secure battery(s) from one to 10 or more cells in series and parallel configurations.īattery Type, Function: Refers to the shape of cells accommodated and style/form factor of the device. The battery will be connected, the holder and the circuit board will be hot-glued inside a plastic base. This Product Selection Guide contains information to help select products in the Battery Holders, Clips, Contacts category on īattery holders, clips, and contacts allow circuitry and devices to connect to battery-based power sources using various termination methods such as plugs, PC pins, crimp, surface and through-hole solder, snaps, or wire leads. She has been very responsive but she is not native English speakers and I have a feeling I won’t understand her explanation. I could ask the seller about “validation of the battery management and charging functions”. It seems like something this simple should be able to be powered without resorting to dangerous options. ![]() It does not appear to have continued leaking the oily substance. I immediately disconnected it, washed up with soap and put the battery inside a metal lunchbox. I didn’t hear or see anything at the time, but felt a slimy fluid on the battery, like it was sweating it out. In assembling the base, I may have twisted the soldered battery leads from the board and caused a short. I am using the board and the battery (in a digikey-purchased battery holder) in a DIY art project as a gift (essentially making a talking doll). With all that, i’d make sure the battery and charger being used are compatible and the application is not discharging the battery too low otherwise you’d have to go over to NiMh or NiCd chemistries.Ĭlick here for high quality battery 1908-LI18650JLPROTECTED-NDĬlick here for single cell charger 2791-XTARSC1-ND Manufacturers may have differences, please verify their exact specifications. When storing Li-Ion, they like to be sitting at about 3.7v per cell and prefer cooler storage temperature. If the load is pulling more than the C rating of the battery it can also damage the battery -this is especially the case when operating the battery in hot or cold conditions. Other factors to consider is the charge/discharge rate of the battery usually derrived by the “C” or C Rating (capacity). Li-Ion batteries should be balanced charged to about 4.1v per cell max, and discharged no lower than about 2.9v-3.2v per cell minimum. They are typically stable batteries however are pretty picky if something isn’t right with charging, discharging, physical damage, and/or improper storage. When used and maintained properly they can be beneficial over other battery types. When batteries leak, they emit dozens of poisonous gasses and other physically toxic elements, they are also a chemical fire and regular fire hazzard so I hope you are taking proper measures for safety. ![]()
